I am heading home from Bratislava to Karlsruhe. I am leaving early in the morning and i am planning to maybe do a short stop along the way to break the jouney a bit up

Any recommendation on where to stop along the way?

The journey takes arround 9 hours. So i am looking at a 3hour stop (maybe longer if there is a good reason for a slightly longer stop)

I am planning on not doing Vienna or Munich despite those being the most obvious stops along the way as i stayed there a lot of times already (and i already had some short stops in Vienna on this trips)

Any other recommendations?

Maybe Linz. I had only been three or four times to Linz, but I think it is quite a nice city. If you go up the Pöstlingberg by the Pöstlingbergbahn you may enjoy the view over the city.

A smaller town also in Upper Austria situated at the Traunsee. To reach Gmunden would nned a 23-minute (including the tram ride from the railway station to the town centre, not covered by Interrail/Eurail) detour from Attnang-Puchheim. There are no luggage lockers at the Gmunden station but in Attnang-Puchheim.

It’s not quite on your route, but it only adds 20 minutes or so: Kufstein.

It’s a really nice town to stop for 2-3 hours. 2 min walk from the station to the main square. Pick up a free map from the tourist office which gives you a little walking tour, then grab lunch.

The 20minute detour is not the problem. But it looks like there are no luggage lockers at the train station in Kufstein. So not the best option on the way back from a 2+ week trip.

I decide to skip a stop because i found a really good connection with just 1 change from Vienna to karlsruhe, but because of delays i missed my connection by 1 minute. (Now i am delayed by atleast 59 minutes and i have an additional change in Mannheim)

Ah Gmunden is different from Gmünd (the later of which i already visited because of the historic trains rhat run there.)

@Andreas1099 But i will keep your suggestions in mind for my next visit towards Austria. I finally visited a couple more cities in Austria then just Vienna. I stayed in Feldkirch and Graz on this trip.

Schloss Herrenchiemsee near Prien am Chiemsee, but it might need 4 hours overall with ferry etc.
