Hi, I wanted to book seat reservation only for ICE going from Karlsruhe to Strasbourg, but via the interrail app I cannot find the optin to choose the seat. Are they going to just out you somewhere? Also the price is no 21Euro for 40 minutes travel (for the reservation), last year I paid 5,80. Does anyone know, what´s going on? Reservation for SNCF from Strasbourg to Bordeau is 21 Euro, last year it was 10… Any ideas? Thank you, guys!

TGV within France Interrail reservations are €10 with a quota and €20 once the quota has passed until the train is full.
International TGV and some other service run in co-operation with SNCF such as the ICE to/from France are even higher reservation costs.
On this route it is €19, even for a short journey such as Karlsruhe - Strasbourg. Alternative regional services are available with journey times often not much longer.
Eurail/Interrail add an extra charge booking with them so see this page for the best options and description.

For Karlsruhe to Strasbourg, don't waste your money on a €19 reservation for just a few km. Use bahn.com or the DB Navigator app and look for journeys via Kehl. No reservations needed.

It was the exact same last year, you just got lucky paying the wrong reservation fee and not getting questioned on it.
