seat reservation charges confusion

Is it correct that if I had purchased my interrail pass via Rail Europe I would not have been charged for seat reservations on all the trains I have had to book in advance of my trip? Seat reservations alone have come to €135.60.

Not the case, you only save the 2€ reservation fee that raileurope charges on top of the reservation cost.

You can take a look at this guide for how to book most reservations directly to avoid the 2€ fee that interrail charges ob top of the reservation cost.

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

With that cost i assume you are either taking eurostar or a lot of highspeed trains in france, italy or spain or between them. (as those sre the worst countries in terms of mandatory reservations)

On Rail Europe, also make sure you are paying in euro, because they add 5% if you pay in another currency. But first check if there are any cheaper websites.
