Hi there,

I am considering booking a seat reservation on the TGV from Lausanne to Avignon TGV on Sunday, the 20th of July, for 7:52 am.

I have to book it on the Interrail web page, as I won my pass with DiscoverEU, and this year they are providing 4 free seat reservation credits only through the Interrail seat reservation page.

Does anyone know why the seat reservation appears unavailable (see image below) on the Interrail page yet available to purchase for €29 on RailEurope?

The DiscoverEU person I was dealing with was not able to help me. They advised me to choose a different route/departure, or if I wanted the seat reservation, I would have to pay for it on Rail Europe.

The problem is that this direct train saves over an hour compared to taking a different departure/route and only goes once a day. I have to travel on Sunday.

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

I can reproduce that when checking with a normal pass. Other TGV reservations in France seem to work normally. I'd just wait; I doubt this train on a Sunday morning will become fully booked.

@Eurail Community Moderator What is the problem here?

If it’s availabe on raileurope, just book it there. Unlike eurail they don’t add fees. So it will be the cheapest way to book your reservation. You have no advantage in booking through eurail.

Edit: Sorry, I missed the part with discoverEU. So I guess my comment doesn’t apply to you.

Hi @Con31yo, it looks like the seat reservation availability issue on the journey you mentioned has now been resolved. You can see it in the screenshot below. Thanks again to @rvdborgt for bringing it to our attention!

Thank you @rvdborgt @Eurail Community Moderator for your help.

This was temporarily resolved 2 days ago when I checked the page and the reservation was available to book.

However, upon checking the seat reservation page yesterday and today the same issue occurs (see my 1st post with the image). Is there anyway you can permanently @Eurail Community Moderator resolve this issue please or perhaps I need to contact the Interrail team? Only considering this option with the seat reservation and will not be booking it until closer to my trip in June or July.

It is strange you cannot book, must be a bug and other seat reservations are still available for me to book.

Hi @Con31yo

You're right that this issue comes back! We know it’s frustrating and we’re keeping an eye on it. It’s caused mostly by our reservation distributor and some by the railway company. It’s now escalated to them, but since it’s on their end, we can’t say when it’ll be resolved for good.

In the meantime, you could try reaching out to DiscoverEU customer service to see if they can manually apply your credit on that train or route from their back-end. If that’s not possible, the options would be to either take non-direct trains or book via Rail Europe and use your credits for other reservations.

Thanks again!
