Does anyone in the community know how you can or if you must reserve a seat while using a wheelchair

Please take a look at this page:

https://www.interrail.com/en/support/travelling-with-reduced-mobility

It offers information about booking reservations and arranging assistance.

If you have questions about booking a specific train, then please mention route, date and departure time.

Please mention your route, as the experience will differ depending on which country, which operator, and even which stations and train. It will also depend on you, your wheelchair, and whether or not you are travelling with somebody.

It is best to notify the train operator in advance - at least 24 hours - and they can make arrangements. If the train doesn’t require seat reservations, then you have a right - at least in the UK and EU - to turn up without booking assistance, and they must make reasonable efforts to accommodate you. But booking in advance is certainly more likely to get you a smooth journey.

If you need assistance to travel, then you’re entitled to a free caregiver’s pass too. Details on the page that @rvderborgt mentioned above.

The route that is planned is:
Fredrikstad (nor) - Copenhagen H (den) - Hamburg Hbf (ger) - Paris (fra) with return by Amsterdam (hol)  Koblenz (ger) - Hamburg Hbf (ger) - Malmö (swe) - Fredrikstad (nor)

Fredrikstad - Copenhagen you best contact Vy to arrange assistance in Norway and on arrival in Göteborg. and then ask SJ / Öresundtag to arrange getting you on the train in Göteborg and out in Copenhagen.

Copenhagen - Hamburg you best inform both DSB and DB to book assistance. they say one is fine as they will talk to each other but belive i saw it several times that wheelchair user had to wait in Hamburg as DSB didnt tell DB that they are on the train.
DB offer an online form to book assistance. It´s offically not required anymore in Germany but makes it a lot easier for you and the staff.

Hamburg -Paris is the question how you travel i assume via Frankfurt/Mannheim/Karlsruhe this can be organised by DB please not trains are often delayed so plan enough time inbetween the times.

Paris - Amsterdam is Eurostar (red) best to contact them

Amsterdam - Koblenz would be then again DB (the ICE on the Routes from/to amsterdam have an onboard lift that is operated by the traincrew)

Hamburg - Malmö would either need again DB/DSB/SJ for Hamburg/Copenhagen & Malmö you may consider the direct Snälltaget once per day directly to Malmö from Hamburg but then you have to contact them how it will be organised

Snälltåget is not accessible unless you can climb up in the train yourself and have the wheelchair folded during the trip.

Paris-Amsterdam and Amsterdam-Koblenz should not be a problem.

in Paris there’s a lot of staff so someone will help you.

Amsterdam station is in renivation so for lifts you’ll have to make a detour, allow plenty of time.

i wish you a great trip
