Hey! Is there any locals or experienced who can tell me if it is risky to buy your seat reservation one day in advance with these routes:

It’s Saturday the 1st August

Algeciras - Antequera-Santa Ana

Antequera-Santa Ana - Cordoba Central

Cordoba Central - Barcelona

Because it seems like we can’t buy it online… we have tried Eurorail, but tells to buy it at the station

Hope anybody can help three Danes out

Spanish reservations can sell out at the best of times. On a Saturday in August, demand will be high. And when you’re depending on several connections, it can be even more important.

Have you tried Happyrail and Rail Europe? They can often sell reservations where Interrail fails.

Interrail or bahn.com doesn't show a journey Algeciras-Barcelona with a change in Cordoba, so is that intentional for some reason?

There are 3 websites where you can book online: Interrail, raileurope.com and happyrail.com. For instructions, see:
https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

If booking all trains in 1 go doesn't work, then try booking them separately.

If that still doesn't work for you, then please mention route and departure time for each train.

Hey! Thanks for helping out

Algeciras - Antequera-Santa Ana (5:30-8:42)

Antequera-Santa Ana - Cordoba Central (9:35-10:22)

Cordoba Central - Barcelona (12:28-18:13)

And we made the filter as “Only for interracial passports”

Now I’ve tried Happyrail and I can buy seat reservations, and the Spanish train personal are accepting this right?

I guess you mean "Only for Interrail passes” :)

Happyrail is a reliable website for Spanish seat reservations.

Yes, you can use Happyrail to book reservations. Be aware there are currently no trains running between Algeciras and Antequera. The times you see are run by a replacement bus. If the bus is early in Antequera, you might be able to get the 08:41 direct to Barcelona.

There is also an option to go via Málaga, but that has later arrival into Barcelona — too late for onward travel to Portbou.

Ah ya sorry of course I meant Interrail passes;)

Thanks about the information between Algeciras and Antequera, but that won’t “mess up” rest of our schedule right?

Thanks so much for helping three Danes out!

I would book the options you had, and in the possible situation that you manage to reach Antequera earlier, book yourselves onto the earlier direct train to Barcelona. You can then cancel the following reservations and get a partial refund (about 60% I think, booking fees are non-refundable).
