What is the best way to secure a carry-on bag on trains through out Europe. We have a first class Eurail pass and we’re traveling in Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlands.

Ghoh, I never had any issues with it. 

Nothing out of the ordinary. Just be a bit careful in bigger stations or cities with lots of tourists for pickpockets. Staff willl usually announce when there is pickpocket “danger” on the train.

Just keep your carry-on bag close and within reach (but don’t forget it when alighting). If you feel unsure, take the carry-on bag with you to the bar car or the toilets.

You can use a wire and a padlock if you want.
