I am in a deadlock as I want to travel by train from Sofia to Istanbul, but it's impossible to book a ticket online with the Eurail pass. Every website says I need to buy tickets on-site at the station in Sofia. My first question is, is it really impossible to book in advance, and secondly, is it risky to wait and buy the tickets on-site? Are there frequent trains that make the journey between Sofia and Istanbul?

Tickets and reservations for that train are not available online.
