Strasbourg transfer

I have seen this question asked in older forums but haven’t seen a good answer regarding a transfer time of 12 minutes at Strasbourg.  We will be arriving on a TER train from Basil into Strasbourg with a 12 min transfer to the TGV INOUI going into Paris CDG.  If we miss the TGV train, the next one is about a 4 hr wait.  Are there dedicated platforms for TER and TGV trains ?  Has anyone traveled this route recently that can give me some tips ?

There are multiple platforms in Strasbourg. Sometimes the TER and TGV stop on the same platform (opposite tracks) but it’s not guaranteed. There are quick checks on the platforms: showing the reservation QR code is enough.

Honestly since that TGV runs once every 4h I’d get the previous TER 30 min earlier. Not that I don’t trust the connection time but rather that 5-10 min delays are frequent on that busy mainline.

(Basel-Strasbourg usually runs every 30 min but there are some gaps on weekdays and weekends a la SNCF.)

12 minutes is OK in Strasbourg. If you'd like more time, then take an earlier TER. They run every 30 to 60 minutes.

I wish I could take an earlier TER but my train from Zurich doesn’t arrive in time to take an earlier.

Trains Zurich-Basel should run every 30 minutes.

What's your travel date and departure time?

Alright so on Saturdays, trains are running every 60 min between Basel and Strasbourg (while there are 5 hourly trains on Zurich-Basel). You’d have to leave Zurich at 09:59 to catch the 11:21 TER.

I guess if you haven’t got a flight afterwards, I’d do the 12 minutes connection. Worst case: you leave your luggage in lockers, visit the Christmas market and get 24€ compensation for the delay haha
