TGV INOUI Lourdes to Paris Montparnasse Seat Reservation

Dear All Community member,

I am the holder of Eurail Global Pass 2nd Class.

I plan to make seat reservation for my upcoming trip from Lourdes to Paris Montparnasse on December 28. However, after I checked the schedule on that date, there is no 2nd Class seat available. It is only 1st class seat.

Is there any suggestions for me how to be able to board the train on that date? Because it is mandatory to have seat reservation, and as I know for 2nd class pass holder, we can't book 1st class seat.

Thank you for your help.

Hello Stanley,

I quickly checked the Belgian B-Europe TGV-reservation page and it shows me the 19:38 train as the only one available on that day. Getting into Paris at 0:21 that night (29 Dec). Not ideal but probably your only chance with a 2nd class pass that day. https://travel.b-europe.com/Eurail-GE/en/booking-tgv

You should have booked earlier, but these are some options you still have:

Seems like almost all of the trains are booked out in 2 class. except for this connection.

It looks like raileurope.com is also selling the reservation including a first class upgrade for 72€.

In case it's useful to you, there's also availability in a couchette on the night train direct from Lourdes to Paris - both on the 27th and 28th.

@ralderton @Marvin Heer @kupfers

Thank you for your response.

Do you think is it possible to book 1st seat when I have 2nd class pass? Because I saw on December 28, most of schedule only 1st class seat available.

For 1st class upgrade is it legal? I am just afraid it can be denied boarding because I only have 2nd class pass.

Thanks

@Stanleyopranoto I expext it to be correct, as a the 1class reservation with a first class pass selected only costs 20€ and not the  72€ it costs with a secon class pass.

@Marvin Heer

But is it allowed to book 1st class seat when I only have 2nd class pass? I am just afraid I can be denied for boarding.

Yes, this is correct and allowed. A normal pass-reservation costs €20 on this day, 2nd and 1st class (see screenshot of booking options with a 1st class Eurail pass below). If you only have a 2nd class pass but want to travel 1st class, SNCF offers you to upgrade by paying €72 instead of the €20. If you sit in the booked seats and show this upgrade/reservation together with your pass QR-code to the conductors, all will be fine.
