Things to do early morning in Paris

I’m currently planning the first leg of my trip to Europe in May.  At the moment, I am looking into home stays and hostels, but haven’t booked anything yet.  My flight lands in CDG at about 8am.  If I book a hostel, I may not be able to check in until 2pm.

Can anybody give me some suggestions for what do to early morning in Paris?  Is Roissy-en-France worth a visit? Or is it better to head straight into Paris?  How long would it take for me to get from the airport to city centre?

Anywhere, some lowkey exploring, where I can go and maybe sit down, eat and take a break?

Arriving this early in the morning, I’ll still have my bags with me.

If you are travelling with a lot of luggage i would recommend storing it first. (Most hostels offer this)

At 10:00 most things will already be open (museums, ..).

I have stayed in the  Youth Hostel Paris - Yves Robert before (might be a good idea if you already have hostelling international membership of some sort, as a youth hostel membership of one of the participating organisations is required)

If you plan to go up the Eiffel tower i recommend booking that in advance (i think booking for going up by stairs open only 2 weeks in advance, the rest earlier)

If your flight lands at 8, I don’t think you’ll be in Paris much before 10 - you won't be there ‘early morning’; everything will be open. It’s an easy trip on the RER B train to the centre.

Drop your bags at your hostel, ask if they have a shower you can use, then strike out to the local area to find somewhere for coffee.

It’s difficult to suggest anything without knowing where you’re straying, but you can’t really go wrong. Perhaps look up some of the ‘free’ (tip) walking tours you can join, which often meet around that time of morning.
