there’s a thing that I haven’t quite understood.
When can I take my trip back home?
Does it work automatically?
Me and my friends are going to use up 4 whole days of our pass. We eant to take the outbound journey on the fifth day. Can it be done? Or do we have to take a night train for it to count?

Which pass do you have?
If you have a ‘4 day in one month’ pass, then you only have 4 days in total. You can use 2 of the 4 days in your own country.
If you board a night train in your final day, then that's ok. As long as you board before midnight, and don't board any more trains the next morning.
