I’m trying to book seat reservations on trains between Maribor and Chioggia on 12 July, but am wondering if they’re not yet available? Can anyone please confirm?
Also, a while back (actually quite a few years ago) I took a train from Ljubljana to Venice, but I’m not sure such a train is still running? The suggested routes seem to be to head north to Austria before heading down to Venice and then Chioggia. Is it no longer possible to take the train from Ljubljana to Venice via Trieste?

Which itinerary did you have in mind? Sadly it isn’t the most straightforward journey and trains between Ljubljana and Italy are really scarce.
I will suggest a few options below, incl. Flixbus. I’ve seen there’s also a route from Venice Lido but it takes a while (line 11: https://actv.avmspa.it/it/content/linea11). Train is quicker.
Option 1:
Flixbus Maribor - Trieste 07:30 - 10:50 32€
RV Trieste Centrale - Venezia Mestre 12:16 - 14:09
RV Venezia Mestre - Rovigo 14:53 - 15:52
R Rovigo - Chioggia 16:09 - 17:19
Option 2:
EC Maribor - Trieste Centrale 11:45 - 17:16
RV Trieste Centrale - Venezia S. Lucia 18:16 - 20:21
maybe line 11 through Lido?
Option 3:
Flixbus Maribor - Venezia Mestre 11:10 - 16:55 27€
RV Venezia Mestre - Rovigo 17:53 - 18:50
R Rovigo - Chioggia 19:15 - 20:25
Venice-Chioggia ticket is 11.60€ so you may want to save the pass day.
