Travelling with children

We are a family of four from Germany, and this summer we will embark on our first-ever Interrail trip. Together with our seven- and eight-year-old children, we will travel from near Bremen via the usual route through Copenhagen and Malmö to Stockholm, then continue to Östersund, and from there to a small station located along the Inlandsbanan. To all those who have traveled with children: is it better to travel during the day with an overnight stop, or should we dare to take on the adventure of a night train journey? I’m looking forward to your feedback.

Hi @Oliver Schmidt !

While you're waiting for some more feedback and suggestions, you might enjoy reading this article about a family traveling with older kids (teenagers). Hopefully, it’ll give you a bit of inspiration: Travelling with Kids in Europe. They even took a night train between Mannheim and Prague! It’s from 2022, but still a great read

Hope it helps, and perhaps others will share their advice soon! 🙂
