I see advice to make reservation directly on GWR site and show the Eurail QR code when checking in. When I go to the GWR site to book, I have to pay to complete it so how do I book without paying?

I think you’re still searching in the ordinary timetable/ticket booking module of GWR.
You need to make an account, and afterwards, when logged in, you get into a personal space where you can select “bookings” and then make a seat/bike reservations.

I have but there is no selection for the Eurail pass. You can add a rail card but there is no selection for the Eurail pass so to complete the booking, you have to pay.

THANK YOU! That is exactly what I needed and I was so confused. Two more question pls. Can I book an anytime ticket using Eurail and is there any reason to do so? I’ve read that day trip routes from London (Stonehenge, Oxford etc, don’t book up so require advance reservations and I should be able to get tickets the day of. Do you agree? We will be there for 3 weeks in May.
If you're travelling on a pass, then that is your ticket. You don't need to book any other tickets for trains that are included. You just book any mandatory reservations, and optional reservations if you want one.
The free reservations in Great Britain are also available at any GB ticket office.
