Hi community,

You have been so awesome in helping us but I have a “what if “ question. I recently got my partner to download the app and i assigned her pass to her to which it no longer appears on my app. This is all fine but we thought what if either of us lost / had our phones stolen ? I checked my login on a PC and both passes are there.. would you quote pass numbers or how would you overcome this problem ?

Hope this won’t happen but you never know

Much thanks again !

Marty

Yes, you can move a pass to a new phone without access to the old phone.

There may be a limit of the number of times you can do this, I’m not sure. But if you get any problems you can ask Customer Service to do it for you.

You can move the pass once yourself. If you need to move the pass more than once, then you need help from Customer Service.

Having previously lost my phone 3 or 4 days before heading off on an interrail I have learned my lesson and now bring a spare un-configured phone with me now, just in case.

This is to make it easier to recover from a situation where my phone has been lost or stolen.  The last thing you want to be doing if you have been robbed or your phone is lost or broken and the train leaves in 20 minutes is to try to find a phone shop, buy a phone (hope you haven’t signed up for the worst value plan ever because you were in a rush), set it all up (never fast at the best of times), configure your email, download the details of the pass, install the app, add your trip, etc . . .

Having a spare phone means you can just power it up, refer to the notes you brought with you for your pass details and install your pass.  And . . . then worry about what happened to your old phone.

In the case above, I had already moved my pass once from an old phone and then lost the new phone.  I contacted customer support and they pushed whatever buttons were required so that I could move the pass again.

The restriction on moving between phones is (as far as I know) related to revenue protection, so that you can’t share a pass between people easily.
