What is Eurail pass cover and Planning?

Hello! I have used these passes before but this time - it just seems more confusing so I hope someone can help.

1. On this site - it asked if I wanted to generate a pass cover to use on trains trains - sure?. What is a pass cover? This is different than my Eurail Global Pass so what is this for? Can I book directly on other train sites?

2.Also - I already worked out my itinerary and bought my tickets - can I still make a trip plan so I can see it more organized on this site (as well as that I bought some tickets through RailEurope)?

3.My trips show up on laptop but not on app - suggestions?

THANKS!

  1. Which site do you mean and what train are you trying to book? Paper passes have a pass cover number and some reservations websites still want to have such a number. You can book pass reservations wherever you like and most other websites are cheaper than Eurail. The best overview is on this page:
    https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm
  2. You can use any tool to organise your planning. Many people use bahn.com because it's reliable and contains many timetables in Europe.
  3. By "on your laptop”, do you mean on the Eurail website? The reservations you book there will normally only cover part of your trip, since many trains simply don't have reservations. In addition, there’s no synchronisation between the website and the rail planner app. You need to enter any train you use in the app, but you can do that just before boarding.

Thanks so much for all of the information. The pass cover is actually offered for mobile as well (reading the 61 site - it looks like there is a use for it if need be to book on certain sites). I’m still a bit confused about booking on other sites besides RailEurope and Eurail (I actually booked on both). I do remember B-Europe from last time I travelled but I’m not sure it’s useful for reservations between London - Paris - Switzerland (the countries I am going)? I will check out bahn.com - THANKS FOR THAT (although you can’t book through it with pass, correct?)! I appreciate all the info!

For Swiss trains reservations are unnecessary and a waste of money. All Swiss routes can be travelled without reservations.

Yes - I know, thanks (I got it because I was riding Eurostar several times so it saves a lot of money). THANKS!

B-Europe can be used, but it adds a €4 booking fee per order and all trains you can book there are bookable elsewhere without an extra fee. E.g. Eurostar and TGVs can be booked on raileurope.com without an extra fee.

bahn.com can book reservations in/from/to Germany: you use "Book seat only”. For single trains they're more expensive than tickets.oebb.at, but for multiple trains they can be cheaper, since bahn.com charges one price per journey instead of per train. They also have seat selection for most trains.
