I'm trying to book a train from Visp to Zermatt on the 20th October, but only one train a day is showing. I thought the train ran every hour?

Any suggestions?

The timetable isn't complete. Eurail is always quite late with timetable updates. There are engineering works and there are replacement buses between Visp and Täsch. The trains Täsch-Zermatt are in the app. (Use Taesch in the app.)

Please use sbb.ch to plan in Switzerland. If by the 20th you still don't see the buses, then enter the one you use manually.

Best to check schedules on sbb.ch, which will always be the most up to date.

It looks like there’s a bus replacement service running instead of the train.

There runs a bus between Visp and Taesch twice an hour (find it in the SBB app).

So it runs, only takes a bit longer.

But you have to add the Visp-Zermatt trip in the Interrail app to have a valid ticket to show.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The only train seems to be early in the morning and then maybe they revert to the hourly bus/train service for this route?? Issue is that on the global pass, I thought is journey is covered?

If I book on SBB, (apart from being guaranteed a seat), I will be paying twice, as we have already purchased the Global Pass and are halfway through our trip.

There's nothing to book. Reservations in Switzerland are not needed and even when they're possible, they're a waste of money. Visp-Zermatt doesn't have reservations.

The one train that the Rail Planner app shows does not exist.

Please never trust any information in the Rail Planner app, and only use it to manage your pass. Use the operator's timetable to plan, and then if you don't find a train (or replacement bus) you want to use in the Rail Planner app, then add it manually.

There is no need to buy extra tickets,  you activate your Interrail route from Visp to Zermatt (iff you only see one, activate that one, iff they update it, activate the one from your departuretime. ) your Interrail QR code is valid, but the app won't show every construction work there is.

SBB app shows you the departure times from the bus at Visp station.

I wouldn't stress too much on this, you have a valid ticket in your Interrail app.

And ticket control doesn't happen so much...I happend to have taken the Glacier Express twice without booking a seat (I forgot completely that it was mandatory 😅)
