My favorite route is Cluj-Napoca to Bucharest, getting to experience the sunrise in the valleys of Brasov, surrounded by mist and the crisp morning mountain air.

Zita :)

My favourite journey took me from my home in the north of England to London and on to Paris and then to Turin, a beautiful city with a fascinating history and wonderful museums and galleries. From there, Naples, to see Herculaneum and Pompeii before the most exciting rail journey yet - a trip in a railway carriage across the sea to Sicily and picturesque Palermo. From there, a train via Rome to Milan where I marvelled at the size of the cathedral and spent a fun afternoon browsing the designer market stalls before a train back to Paris, London and home to Newcastle upon Tyne. Such an easy way to travel, with stations in the heart of cities, and so many frequent services to choose from, it was a joy. In fact, so enjoyable I’m doing it again later this year and I’m taking my son this time, to share the wonder!

One of my favourite train trips is from Bratislava to Vienna. It’s quite short but I really like it super easy, no stress, and you just roll straight into the city. Vienna is probably one of my favourite places in Europe, the buildings, the cafés, the whole atmosphere… it just hits different. I’d do that trip again anytime.

I like night trains, like Beograd - Bar, especially when they are later and you can see the mountains in the morning,

The Bernina was beautiful, and I’ll do it again.

The train Dresden - Berlin was a loverly ride with a restaurant. Restaurants in trains seem to disappear, a pity.

A sweet ride was Lisbon - Tavira, to do again?

Felices viajes!

My favourite interrail train journey was from Budapest to Vienna. I really enjoyed seeing the obvious change in countries almost instantly as you crossed the border.

My favourite long train Journey was from Sydney to Cootamundra. Real dramatic change from Urban Aus to rural.

Starting from Paris where I live, I want to go all the way to Istanbul by train ! Would also love to discover Scandinavia this way, and and the Balkans too. Slow travel et trains are my favorite !

I would love to experience the train journey from Helsinki to Rovaniemi to enjoy as much of the beauty of Finnish nature as possible and experience a bit of Lapland.

I live in Dresden. My husband and I enjoy traveling by train and public transport. We camp in our own tent at various locations. Our last two trips were to Great Britain. We traveled from Germany through Scotland to the Outer Hebrides using the Eurostar, the Caledonian Sleeper, various trains, and other public transport. We explored Cornwall and stopped in Paris, Dijon, and Zurich on the way back. We met many interesting people on these trips. I could travel by train again and again, as it's relaxing and we see so much.

My favourite trip was through the Switzerland by train last summer. The views are so lovely. No time to read a book. Like a little boy I looked outside the whole travel.

My train trip next on my wishlist is a journey from Vienna to Venice. As an academic interested in history, architecture, and cultural heritage, I would love to experience Europe slowly by train, passing through changing landscapes and cities full of stories.

My dream slow travel route would be along the Atlantic coast: Bordeaux, Hossegor, Biarritz and especially Saint-Jean-de-Luz — one of my favourite places.

It reminds me of home in New Zealand, and ideally I’d continue on to San Sebastián.

I’d love to go around in the Pyrenees. In my youth I went from Barcelona to Vigo on a 3 days trip on a narrow-track line. The Pyrenees are fantastic. I’d like to go to Oloron-Sainte-Marie adn further on to Canfranc, but also other places, I’d also want to see if there are any remains from the camp at Gurs…

And to relax in the mountains...

My favorite experience was the train ride from Rome to Paris, I was enchanted by all the colors along the way 😍
