7 Days Rail Pass which countries to use for Praque, Budapest, Vienna , Lucerne and Interlaken area

For Switzerland it depends of your plans. The pass would be useful if you make long distance journeys for example it you travel to Geneva, Lugano, Zermatt, Glacier Express line. It you want to make only mountain excursions (for example Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn) the pass is not valid, you have only a discount.

How much did your pass cost? A 7 day, adult, second class pass costs €381. That’s €54 per day.

If you’re not going to get that much value out of it, you can consider refunding the pass.

There’s a night train from Prague to Brussels, three days a week. And from Zurich to Brussels. Both of these are good options to connect to the Eurostar to London.

The maximum cost for a ticket from Zürich to Luzern is 27 CHF, cheaper if you book a specific train in well advance, so using a Eurail day is more expensive.

I bought the EURail pass during promotion which is about Euro 260.Since it is quite cheap, I will not return the pass. My question then  is when and where I should use the pass most economically base on the following destinations in June :

London to Praque. 3 nights Praque

Praque to Vienna 2 nights Vienna

Vienna to Budapest 3 nights Budapest

Budapest to Zurich and then to Lucerne spending 2 nights

6 nights in Lauterbrennan area visiting the usual places like Jungfrau, Grindelwald, Wengen , Interlaken, Lake Brienz etc

I will be using the pass for Budapest to Zurich. How shall I use the remaning 6 days . Should I use one day for London to Praque or should I use all remaining 6 days pass for Switzerland?

London to Prague is indeed possible in one day but take into account a possible 2-hour delay somewhere in Germany.

London - Prague would be a stressful journey during the day (or rather always fear of missing the last train).

For a more relaxed experience, consider the Brussels-Prague European Sleeper. It doesn't run daily though so could plan around that.

Leave London in late morning, leave your luggage in lockers at Brussels-Midi, visit a bit, have dinner and board the night train. All in one travel day -> ideal! :)

All other journeys will be easy.

For something like Interlaken-Grindelwald it doesn't make sense to use a pass day in my opinion (unless you have some remaining of course).
