4 days into my planned trip. My pass states next planned train route as Madrid to Paris.
Want to alter to Madrid to Rome. Can this be done as it not a route shown on my pass

Altering your destination during your travel
You can change it anytime you want. You don't even have to plan anything; the only limitation is trains with mandatory reservations.
You cannot do M→> R in 1 travelday. It perhaps not even that farther from M as P, but you have to change at least 3-more likely 4 or 5 times.
