Question regarding an American student attending university in Austria -- Is there a Eurail pass a student can get that allows unlimited travel throughout Austria and/or the EU for the entire 12 month school year? Or any specific Austria passes that allow unlimited travel? I have read Germany has an affordable monthly pass for around 50 Euros and wondering if Austria has similar, or if there is a Eurail pass that fits the bill? Thanks!

Hello @s8833

For Austria you can buy this pass:

https://www.oebb.at/en/tickets-kundenkarten/kundenkarten/klimaticket

For the rest of Europe (not only EU), you can buy Interrail Passes when you travel. It is not allowed to use Eurail/Interrail passes for daily trips, for example between your home and the university. They are also not valid on buses and tramways.

If the student is American would they need to buy Eurail pass, or would it be Interrail if they are going to university in Austria on a student visa?
