Many tickets / reservations can be added to Apple or Google Wallet.

Below are examples from Trenitalia, České Dráhy, SNCF, italo, and UK National Rail in my wallet. There are plenty others that work, of course.

It really makes things easy when traveling. No need to print reservations out, or save a PDF, or worry that a QR code is going to disappear, you'll be logged off or lose internet connection. When it's in Apple Wallet I'm 100% confident it will still be there when the ticket inspector comes. (Unlike web using Rail Planner 😕)

It would be so great if the Interrail / Eurail pass could be added to a wallet like this.  😃

The root cause for wanting this, though, is the fact that the Rail Planner app needs multiple minutes to show an existing(!) ticket when internet is bad.

Yeah that's definitely true. My faith in Rail Planner is low!

But even with other rail/ air providers, I much prefer having a ticket in Apple Wallet. I've had QR codes and PDFs disappear from my inbox, or from the company's own app.

It's a very nice idea! Having Pass in your Apple/Google wallet would make a big difference when travelling. We've already flagged this idea to the team, as it's definitely something worth exploring. Thanks @ralderton!

I see a problem. If you add a card without the journeys, it would not be possible to check them. Otherwise it would be necessary to add a separate card for every journey.

I see another problem. It would be possible to activate a travel day in the future, create a card and cancel the journey/travel day. You could also cancel the pass, obtain a refund and still have QR codes.

Other train operators can check if the electronic tickets are still valid.

I don't know about Google, but Apple Wallet can be updated.

I always put my Eurostar reservation in my Wallet, and when I change my seat the boarding pass updates immediately. I’m sure if I cancelled the reservation, the boarding pass would expire.

So it should be able to handle whether a pass is valid today or not.

I'm sure there are issues around fraud prevention, but they could all be solved.

I kept thinking, the problem I mentioned could be solved if creating a card would be only possible on the day of travel and not in advance.

It is different with Eurostar. You can also print the tickets and no update is obviously possible, but you have a check-in and it is impossible to board a train with an invalid ticket (BTW I travelled on Eurostar last week and my Interrail Pass was not checked).

Cards can usually be propagated on other devices, for example with iCloud. However, it should be possible to deactivate this function and link the card to a specific device.
