I have a country pass for Austria. When I create a new trip linked to my pass (not activated yet), I thought the app would let me know if my pass is not valid in parts of the trip. However, it doesn’t show anything, even if I add a trip completely outside of Austria, eg from Paris to Barcelona.
Therefore, and as I was unable to find clear information about this:
If I travel on the Railjet from Austria to Bratislava, is the ticket valid to Bratislava, or do I need an additional ticket from Vienna to Bratislava?

No, the only validity outside Austria is on Railjet or Eurocity trains to Italy. See here ‘Can I cross the border’: https://www.interrail.eu/en/interrail-passes/one-country-pass/austria
For Bratislava, you’d have to pay from the border.

So that means I need a ticke from Vienna if I am on the Railjet and a ticket from Kittsee if I am on the regional train? The question is whether Bratislava-Petrzalka is valid as border station, as the train doesn’t stop elsewhere near the border. For example, I have been told I can travel until Buchs SG in Switzerland with the Austria Pass.
+8Hmm. I think Kittsee Staatsgrenze is the border point, but there are other posters on here who have better knowledge of these things, including whether you can buy a ticket from there. Or if indeed it’s valid to Petrzalka.
Certainly, a ticket from Kittsee will be fine if you’re on the Regional train.

I looked up the ÖBB route planner Scotty, the ÖBB ticketing app and the VOR (the local transportation angency for the provinces of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland) website and found out the following:
Border points like Kittsee Grenze are usually shown in Scotty if you look at the schedule of a specific train. Kittsee Gr. does not exist, probably Kttsee station is the border point.
VOR does not sell tickets to Petrzalka, like they do to Sopron in Hungary. So Petrzalka is outside the VOR area.
In the ÖBB ticketing app one cannot select having an One Country Pass for Austria, so I tried to simulate this by entering a VOR Klimaticket Metropolitan (a regional pass valid in the above mentioned provinces). The app showed me a fare of €4,30 for Wien Hbf. - Petrzalka. If I would purchase a ticket just from Kittsee to Petrzalka it would alsocost €4,30.
My conclusion from this is: The one country pass is not valid beyond Kittsee. As the online ticketing system of ÖBB does not permit to include a One Country Pass into a cross-border journey, I would buy a ticket Kittsee to Petrzalka.
May I add the remark that there are no railjet trains between Vienna and Bratislava, only regional trains.

There is a boarder point Kittsee Grenze (identical with Petrzalka Gr,) on the Kittsee Bratislava line. Railway lines from Austria to neighbouring contries sometimes have border points at the actual border line, sometimes “boarder stations” which may be within or outside Austria, e.g.Buchs SG.
As definetly Petrzalka ist not the “boarder station” Austrian railpasses (VOR passes, the Austran wide Klimaticket) are only vald to Kittsee and an additional ticket ist required. I did not find any statement about Interrail/Eurail One Country Passes but I do not think that there are different rules. So an additional ticket is required. Tickets from the border point Kttsee Gr. are not available online. Maybe a ticket office could make a difference between Kittsee station and Kittsee Gr. Anyway, I would buy a ticket Kittsee Bahnhof (station) to Petrzalka in addition to the pass.

Thanks for the detailed reply, that is very useful. However, there are two direct trains per day from Vienna to Bratislava (and back): the Euronight EN 1152/3 and the Railjet RJX 167/160

The ÖBB ticket office can definitely sell tickets from the border point.
