How do I book for the Bernina Express?

Do I search Bernina Express or Milan to Zurich?

How do I know it's rhe scenic route?

Apologies for the stupid question,  very newto me😉

To book pass reservations, see:

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

The Bernina Express doesn't serve Milan or Zurich. You can use connecting trains of course.

But unless you really want to sit in the panoramic carriages, just use any regular train on the same route, or board the reservation-free front carriages of the Bernina Express. The views are the same, and it will be a lot cheaper, less crowded and you can make a stop somewhere along the route.

In the carriages of the normal regional trains you can open the window for a better view and pictures ;)

Changes are short on the normal trains but made to work, definitely the better option here.

The most scenic route passes: Chur-Thusis-Filisur-St. Moritz [Change trains in St. Moritz, when choosing for ordinary trains] Pontresina, Alp-Grüm-Poschiavo-Tirano

Do I search Bernina Express or Milan to Zurich?

Search the timetable for Chur to Tirano, that will find you the route over the Bernina Pass. Then you can add suitable trains to get you from Zurich-Chur and onwards to Milan.

The Seat61 link above gives you an example timetable all the way from Zurich, but feel free to take different trains. As @rvdborgt  says, none of these trains need a reservation - just avoid the Panorama cars on the direct train.

As it hasn't been said before: you have to look out for the "PE" trains, which stand for "PanoramaExpress", between Chur and Tirano.
