Bernina Express

I want to buy a seat selection for the Bernina express. Do I just go onto ‘tickets.rhb.ch’ and pay for the seat selection of the panoramic view train. Its 40 CHF each person (which I’m happy to pay) but is that wheat I do in order to acquire the seat selection? When I click to buy the ticket I add that I have a global pass, but I just wanted to know if I need to do anything else?

Bookings in the Railplanner app are not really important. You will only see reservations made through Interrail/Eurail there.

What is important is that you create a Trip to which you add all trains that you will travel with as Journeys. You connected your pass to the Trip and just before boarding the first train of your travel, you activate the pass.

@Christine99

No, you don’t need to do anything else.

Note that you can also travel in the three first cars of the Bernina Express trains without reservation. Reservations are now also available in regional trains, but not mandatory.

However, during the peak periods, access may be restricted without reservations. Thera are new rules due to overtourism on this line.

Don’t forget to add the train to your Trip, as normal. You’ll need to show the reservation + the pass when the ticket inspector comes round.

Hi Ralderton,

When you say ‘don't forget to add the train to your trip, I’ve added it to my planner, but it still says ‘book seats’ and it didn't get added to my booking reservations. I followed the prompts and bought the tickets through the Rhatische Bahn AG (Rhaetian Railway) and I bought five 1st class tickets through them, now I have those seats, but it doesn't come up on my ‘Seat reservation’ in my Rail app. On my app I have my two trips from London to Paris, and Amsterdam to London listed under my bookings, but not the Bernina Express pass. Do you know how to add that one to my Rail app? I have the tickets from the Bernina Express, I just can't add it to my booking. I have already bought them through the ‘Bernina Express website’. I hope this question makes sense?

@Christine99

It is not possible to add such reservations to the Rail Planner app. Simply show them separately as indicated in the previous post.

Edit: Sorry, I didn’t notice that the question had already be answered.
