We are planning the trip from Sofia to Budapest and there is no way to find trains by Rail Planner. It only gives us the option for Romania, Craiova and Bucharest.
Can someone help us? Thank you!

Rail Planner isn't that reliable unfortunately. Use bahn.de
The easiest route is via Bucharest, from there daytime or night trains to Budapest
