I am visiting Netherland and Germany in May. I have already purchased Global train pass. Can I activate with future date before I fly from my country of origin?

Hello @Bindu

Yes, you can, but I would make it the day before departure and not weeks in advance. However, you can deactivate the pass until the first day of validity.

You can activate the pass with a start date of the validity of the pass in the future, but this is not recommended.

Why do you want to activate the pass in advance?

I am trying to make reservations three months out and my Eurail pass, which is a 2 month pass.  I don’t want to start start it early and then not be able to finish my trip plans on the rails. Can I activate it to make the reservations and then deactivate it in order to keep the travel window that I want in a couple of months?

Is there another way to make reservations without activating the Eurail pass?

Activation is never needed to make reservations.

Activating is not needed to make reservations.

If you are having problems to make reservations, then have a look at this page and follow the advice for the trains you're trying to book:

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

If that doesn't work for you, then please mention route, date and departure time of the train(s) you're trying to book.
