I’m planning to buy a Global Pass with Refund Protection now and get seat reservations using it (trip is 5 months out). What if I see discount on Global Pass later -- can I refund the 1st Pass and transfer reservations to the one I buy at discount?

Yes. Your seat reservations aren't tied to your pass number at all.
There's no need to ‘transfer’ them
