This may be a silly question, but here goes: if one purchases a “10 days in 2 months” pass, can you use all 10 days in the first month? Or are you required to spread them out? Thanks!

Yes it’s possible.
I would suggest to look if the next days there are some % off at Interrail (for European users), maybe also Eurail (for non European) has also some % off on the Passes.
