Solved

Can Interrail Switzerland Pass be used by multiple passenger by validating multiple days?

For example the 8 days within 1 month version. If not, which one is the best for 3 travellers?

Nem, not possible. Jó napot.

Note that the IR-pass Swiss only covers trains-and only as far as real villages-NOT the many mountain lines the Swiss is so famous for. There is also a Swiss HOliday Pass (or Tourist Pass) that cost a little more but covers much more. Also all buses (the famous yellow postbus), also all local villamos/trolejbusz, and also most museums. But the most expensive of these mountain lines still have to be paid for-but with discount.

For better advice state how many days you want to spend there-for longer trips and/or if you plan to stay in 1 local area and only travel there. And ages of all-there are also ju/se-nior discounts.

AND SBB=swiss rails is 175 yrs in 2022-there are often very special daytickets for just 17,50CHF-only online, if you can get them these are very best bargain-but these will sell out in a few mins after opening sales.

If you describe where you plan to travel in Switzerland you can get advice on what pass could be best.

Each one get his own pass

Please note that the Interrail SwitzerlandPass (mostly trains and few ships) cover less as the Swiss Travelpass (all kinds of public transport , Buses,Trains, trams,Ships and offer more discounts on the mountain rails or museums)

Depending on how many days you travel within switzerland maybe the SBB SaverDaytickets is an option aswell for you.

Swiss Travelpass good if you travel several days within Switzerland

SBB Saverday good if you travel just one or two days within Switzerland

A quick check of the Interrail site shows many of the Swiss named trains are included but have quite expensive “reservation” fees which are mandatory. It is easy to research which are included or privately operated and not included.

I don’t know if this is the case with Swiss Travel Pass.

Th reservation fees stay the same. And you can also do the same routes with normal reservation-free trains.

As an example this is from Interrail site

Interrail passes are valid on the entire Golden Pass journey. Seat reservation for groups is compulsory and for individuals recommended. Special supplements apply for the VIP seats and a reservation is also compulsory.

The Golden Pass journey consists of 3 seperate trains:

  • Luzern to Interlaken - reservation cost €10.50 (12 CHF)
  • Interlaken to Zweisimmen - reservation cost €4.50 (5 CHF)
  • Zweisimmen to Montreux - reservation cost €7 (8 CHF)

*The currency in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc

The reservation cost for these trains is the same for 1st and 2nd class. With a 2nd class Interrail Pass you can only travel in a 2nd class train carriage, with a 1st class Interrail Pass you can travel in both a 2nd and 1st class carriage.

Please note that if you want to travel on the entire Golden Pass journey, you have to buy reservations for all the trains seperately. You can do so on the website of Golden Pass. Of course it's also possible to travel on only a part of the journey, in that case you only have to buy the reservations for the trains you want to take.

Special features

For a special treat, ride in the head of the train (VIP seats). You will feel as if you are driving the train. Limited seating only. Between Montreux and Zweisimmen, travellers can also enjoy the "Golden Pass Classic" with refurbished vintage Orient Express cars.

Panorama car and eating possibilities on board:

  • Between Lucerne and Interlaken East: Panorama car in 1st class – Dining car

  • Between Interlaken East and Zweisimmen: Salon car and Golden Pass Lounge in 1st class – Rail bar service

  • Between Zweisimmen and Montreux: Panorama cars in 1st and 2nd class, Front seats VIP “grand vue”, – Rail bar service

More info at Golden Pass website.

Chocolate train

Take the chocolate train from Montreux to Broc-Chocolat and discover where Switzerland's delicious chocolate and cheese is made. Visit the cheese factory in the beautiful village Gruyère and continue your journey to Broc to see how chocolate is made.

Interrail passes are valid on the entire Chocolate train route. Reservations are compulsory and can be made online through the Golden Pass website. Select Montreux as departure station and Montbovon as arrival station. Select the option 'Pass' (1st or 2nd class).

Reservation costs for an adult:

  • 1st class: €51.50 (CHF59)

  • 2nd class: €57 (CHF65)
