i’m taking a train from around 18:00 till around 01:30.
do i seriously need to start a new day travelpass just for the last hour and 30 minutes?

No as long as you board the last train before midnight, only the first day will be counted.
If you have to change after midnight then it might be better value to buy a ticket for that leg
