So, I'm looking to travel to a specific spot in europe, I'm staying there for a week and then going back home.

Do I need a 7 day or can I get a shorter one , since I'm only traveling by train 2 times that week ?

You can get a shorter pass. On a travel day you can take as many trains as you want.

If you give us more details (journey, date) we could advise whether it makes sense or not to buy a pass or not. Standard tickets might be cheaper!

@thibcabe thx for the quick reply!
I'm going to Voss from brussels and then back on saturday. Its a 2 day trip it seems. other than that I'm not using the train.

can't seem to find any shorter passes than 4 days, this however would work if I can have 2 days in the beginning and 2 days at the end

When do you want to travel? Normal tickets might be cheaper than an Interrail pass.

You'll have to do the maths. Determining prices is only possible if you give your travel date(s).

I've done the math ! It would be cheaper to buy a pass.

I'm leaving this Sunday, the trip takes me 2 days to complete

Going back next Saturday would also be a 2 day trip

So if I could use the 4 day pass 2-2 non connected days I'd have the best deal

Okay then get a 4 days in 1 month pass. These 4 days can be non-consecutive, that's fine.

But are you sure this journey is doable in only 2 days? Do you have margin for delays (esp. in Germany)? Have you checked whether the Oslo - Voss trains are not sold out?

Personally I might get a 5 days in 1 month pass and plan an extra overnight somewhere.

Never bad to play it safe I guess, but this answers my main question! Thx!

You're welcome. Don't plan tight connections in Germany and have at least 2 hours margin before the Hamburg - Malmö night train (assuming you're taking it).

Book mandatory reservations following the guide here: https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

Split the search to get better results (i.e. Brussels-Hamburg rather than Brussels-Voss straight away). And don't hesitate to ask more questions here. :)
