I want to buy an Europass ticket and use it to book a ticket on a train, say 24/12/23, would the 22 day limit on my ticket start counting on the day I make the booking or when I first ride on a train? Thank you!

Pass and reservations are entirely separate. If you have a mobile pass, it will only activate when you go through the activation procedure on your mobile phone. Booking a reservation is separate and does nothing to activate your pass.
