I will be travelling w my eurail pass tomorrow. However I think I only need to have 4 days instead of 7 days which I have purchased and activated. Could I ask for exchange and refund part of the money asap?

Ask of course can-and it simply means you cancel-less admin. fee and have to wait for refund-this will likely NOT be asap-can easily take 2 - 3 monthes. You buy new pass.
But be smart: check difference in price-less fee and think if its not wiser to simply use these days for a nice trip/day outing or the like. You do not need to use it only for very long INtern. trips. Plus that such day outings in the right country can be done without all the fuss of REServ. etc
