We have I flight into Brussels, before we start our interail German pass. Is our pass valid to go straight to Cologne from Brussels airport?

No. You will have to pay separately from Brussels Airport to Brussels Midi or Liege-Guillemins.

From either of these you can use your pass on the DB ICE trains to Cologne.

Actually coming from the airport it's faster to board at Brussels Nord but if you want to get seats it's better to board at Midi. Or you can make reservations for a few € for peace of mind.

Correct, but as @Al_G said - only on Deutsche Bahn. You can’t use the Eurostar which also goes Brussels-Cologne.
