GWR Night Rivera Seat Reservation

Hello all. I am trying to make a seat reservation on Great Western’s Night Rivera train for May 5th, but the website’s seat reservation functionality was removed. I tried messaging them on Facebook Messenger and was told to either book via some weird train staff page (I don’t work for a railway) or to call them. When I called them, I was told that I could just show up and board the train, but the Eurail website said that reservations are mandatory.

Who is correct, and what should I do?

GWR are a bit weird with their night train. It's as if they don't care if people travel with it or not.

In any case, you can book a free seat reservation online on https://ticket.tpexpress.co.uk/

First look for a regular ticket, then select "Seat & bike reservation” at the top right.

I tried following your instructions, and I selected it, but it unselects when I get to the next step and it wants me to pay full price. @rvdborgt.

Sorry for the confusion, you're right.

Seat61 gives the exact steps how to book a reservation:

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm#great-britain

It only seems to work if you have an account, but if you follow the steps, it does work.

Last I checked (about a week ago) GWR had removed the option to book reservations only - for any train.  The steps on seat61 used to work for me no problem, but now it’s just not possible on the GWR website.  However . . . the steps he shows for Trans Penine Express do work and I used them to reserve seats on an Avanti train.

Some day, some day National Rail will get its act together and realise that *they* should be the ones making reservations possible.
