Hi there! I am considering getting a Global Pass, but I am quite lost about how it works concretely. I can’t just go into any train just like that and show the pass if controlled, do I? One has tobuy a ticket at some point, right? So, how does it work in the field?
I would be very grateful if someone could explain to me!

The pass is your ticket. For many trains, that's all you need.
You need reservations for some trains, and for some others, reservations are optional.

The only thing you have to bu, is sometimes a reservation for a train with mandatory reservations (Eurostar, TGV, Spanish and Italian High Speed). But that’s well explained in the link
Otherwise you just register the train you want to take, hop on the train and show your ticket upon inspection.
Once you did it a couple of times, you’ll be training around Europe with ease.
