I’m from the UK and would like to use an inbound journey to return at the end of my trip via rail from Belgium. Can anyone explain how I use an inbound journey with a mobile pass?

How to use inbound/outbound journey?
It will come, automatically when you add a trip also in homecountry. After having used it 2-it will then tell ´no more!

They are not seperate. You are allowed to travel in your country of residence during two of your tarvel days.
