Incorrect residency on pass

I’ve purchased an Interrail Monthly pass for my wife and I. She is German but a UK resident however, the pass says she is German resident. Does Interrail automatically mark you as a country’s resident just because of nationality? Or did I mistakenly mark her as German resident when I purchased. (The later seems unlikely but, I suppose, possible).

Hey @Stevec. If she has a mobile Pass and has not begin traveling yet, you can reach out to customer service and have the country of residence changed. You can reach out to customer service by filling out the following form: https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new

All they do is apply the details you have given them.

If you are planning on travelling in Germany then it is a problem, you will have to refund or swap the pass. If no German travel is needed and she has ID for Germany then it can be used as is.

What if I reside in a different country than my Passport indicates


In case the country where you live is different than the one indicated in your passport or legal equivalent, for the purpose of applying clauses 2.1 and 2.2 of Section I, the country where you live prevails and should be indicated when ordering the Pass.
You must be able to prove such residency by means of official residence documents issued by the government. Such a residency document must clearly prove that you, as Pass holder, are registered in the country where you effectively live at the moment of the start of your trip. Residency can also be proven through official documents or official governmental online sources*.

Such documents vary per country. In case you do not hold any of the means of proof above indicated, you must select the country indicated in your passport or legal equivalent

*The document provided ought to reflect the country in which the person is effectively residing. E-residency documents, as e-residency is a non-location-based online residency, are not valid documents to prove where you  live, therefore you cannot use them to prove your residency while using your Pass.

Ok, so you’re both suggesting I must have filled in the application incorrectly. I don’t remember being asked country of residence but then I often can’t remember what I had for breakfast - so no surprise.

I did indeed reach out to customer support (yesterday) and have to say I was immensely impressed. They responded by email within an hour and after a couple of brief exchanges they solved the problem for us. Fabulous service

This seems to concur with the following text which is shown in the ordering process:

“The information you provide should match the passport or ID of you and your travel companion(s). If it doesn’t match please bring an official residency document.”

So both of these actually imply, the first indirectly and the second directly, that it is allowed and even foreseen that I may order a pass with residency as the country of my citizenship and id or passport, even if I happen to be currently residing in a different country?

Correct? Any contrary opinions?

Also the order process says this:

“Travel documents: If your country of residence differs from your passport/ID, you’ll also need to bring an official residency document. Can’t provide one? Select your passport/ID country instead.”

 

That actually suggests doing what I am proposing.
