Iryo large luggage policy

Hi everyone,

I purchased Eurail 1st class pass for Spain recently. I then made a seat reservation with lyro train infinita class. I checked that they have luggage policies where advance reservation is needed in advance. However, when I logged in to the booking, seems to me the booking from Eurail is not amendable with the baggage option. Is it possible to reserve via email or visit the customer service desk for reserving one? I don't want to end up in paying 40 euros for one large bag's.

Thanks in advance

In this post announcing the launch of Iryo accepting Interrail, it was confirmed that passholders get 1 large bag included, even though the Inicial fare doesn’t normally include one.

I agree that it’s not very good that passholders can’t manage their booking properly via Iryo website, or see confirmation of this.

I haven’t seen that many reports from travellers on Iryo, so I don’t know how it’s working in the real world, unfortunately. But the reports I have seen suggest that Iryo don’t want to touch the booking, and refer all questions back to Eurail.

Are Eurail reservations for Iryo high-speed trains really issued from a different booking system than Iryo’s ordinary tickets?

I doubt it. But it could also be their policy preventing their staff from doing anything.

Hey @Jonas Chiu,

Just to follow up on what was already said, here is a screenshot of what is included in your Infinita fare:

Hope this helps!

Hi,

How did it go in the end?

I have an Interrail reservation on Iryo and my ticket explicitly says “Inicial Superior Interrail”. The reservation PDF also contains the standard Inicial luggage dimensions and the €40 surcharge warning, which seems a bit contradictory to the information linked above about Interrail passengers being allowed a large suitcase or backpack.

Did you travel with a large backpack or suitcase, and did anyone check or question it?

Thanks!

Hi JohannaMarieke! How did it go for you? I’m in exactly the same situation. I tried to call them to ad or at least ask about it but the number I got from the App did not work. I’m planning on going with my big backpack but Iryo is the only company I’ve seen the size limits. Have you done the trip yet and have the answer?

Elias

It looks like the text about included luggage pn the announcement page has been silently changed. It now reads:

A suitcase or backpack (55 × 35 × 25 cm) is automatically included in both travel classes.

So nothing large anymore in 2nd class.
