I created my own account on interrail.eu and bought paper passes for me and my whife. As of yet she does not have an account. Does she for any reason need one?
(I cannot think of any reason, but just want to make sure before we start our trip.)

No, she doesn’t need her own account.
You need to have both passes linked to your account so you can make reservations on the Interrail website.
