new passport - UK

Hello.

I'm going to the UK in the summer with Interrail and I'm going to get a new passport, and I'd like to buy a global pass now.

My question is, can I give my ID card number or current passport number when purchasing, even though I'm going to the UK, or am I out of luck and have to buy it after I get my new passport? Or can it be changed later? Or will an ID card be sufficient to prove my identity in the UK?

Or will an ID card be sufficient to prove my identity in the UK?

You’ll need a passport to enter the UK, of course.

But you can use your national ID card as the ID accompanying your Interrail pass if you prefer. Just make sure to carry whichever ID you use when you activate your pass.

(Although, in reality, the UK train staff are very unlikely to ask for it.)

Hello @Janb

It is not necessary to indicate your ID or passport number when you purchase a pass, only when you activate it just before your trip begins.

Don’t forget the ETA application.

ID card or passport number is only needed now when buying a paper pass. You can use your ID card number if you want a paper pass. You can buy a paper pass at the ČD ticket office, so you don't have to pay extra for sending the pass to you.
