Night train leaves just before midnight

We are starting our journey toward home on a night train. The train leaves at 23:45 and arrives at Munchen at 9:22, after which we still need to take 2 trains to get home (munchen-hamburg and hamburg-copenhagen). My question is if due to the first night train arriving just before midnight means that we need to use 2 travel days to reach home. We only have 1 travel day left on the ticket, so help would be appreciated.

Yes, the time of departure is what counts for the travel day unfortunately. So if the train leaves at 2345, you'll use a pass day. And if you take more trains in the morning, that’s another day.

Which city are you starting from? It’s possible that there are several stations, and the maybe train calls at one of those stations after midnight. Alternatively, you could see where the first stop after midnight is.

I assume that it is Bologna ? What’s your travel date ?

Be aware that due to works the night train arrives half an hour later in Munich at the moment.
