Nighttrain: 1 travel day or 2 travel days?

I am also looking into an Interrail pass, for example for 5 or 7 days within 1 month.

Question: if you start with the direct night train from Arnhem to Vienna (which then departs on Tuesday evening for example and arrives on Wednesday morning), does that count as 2 travel days or 1 travel day?

And does it make a difference if you book a non-direct night train?

Are there terms and conditions where I can find that?

Rules are simple:

All trains you travel on scheduled to leave from 0000 up to 23.59 count in that travel day, irrespective of arrival time, so one travel day.

If you change trains after midnight then that triggers another travel day.

When i look in the planner in the app it still says +1 day even if there are no change of train?  Will this add one travel day?

No, it says that you will arrive the next day. If you don’t change trains after Midnight Central European Time (CET) you will use only one day.
