Only outbound trip visible on ticket

Hi,
The details below the QR-code of my pass only list my outbound journey, not the ones I added after that, which are all listed under My Trip. Is this how it's supposed to be?
Thanks!

I guess so as you will create a new ticket for your next journey. But, there is a strong advice from the experience travellers in the group to not create the ticket until just before you board the train. Please read more about that below.

Here is some useful information from the experienced travellers in the Community regarding both planning, reservations and activation of pass and travel days.

 Planning

The rail planner is normally not up to date, as it only is updated once a month, so to be sure of the time table you better check the timetable and availability on the websites of the national railways. The bigger national railways, like DB (Germany) SBB (Switzerland) and ÖBB (Austria) cover several countries.

 Reservations

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is to use other ways to make reservations than the Interrail/Eurail website.  You can look at the guide in the link:

https://community.eurail.com/train-connections-reservations-47/how-to-get-reservations-105

If you, after having looked at the guide, have questions about how to make specific reservation, please give your travel details (departure date, time and route) preferably in a new topic, and you will get advice.

Please note that Interrail/Eurail charges an extra fee of 2 EUR per person and train in addition to the fee for the seat reservation.

 Activation of pass

During the activation process, when you choose the start day of the validity of the pass, the first day of the validity period is automatically made a travel day, even if you don't enter a journey, the advice is therefore not to activate the pass before the first travel day as you only can deactivate the pass before 00.00 on the day the validity starts. If your travel plans change in the last moment you will loose travel days if you have activated the pass in advance.

It can be wise to make a test and activate the pass with a start date well in the future and then deactivate the pass immediately, just to see that everything works.

 Activation of travel day

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is also never to activate a travel day, that is connect a journey to your pass, until just before boarding the train, otherwise you might loose a travel day if your travel plans change in a late stage  You can't delete a travel day in the past. A travel day can only be deleted until 23.59 CET the day before the travel day.

Thanks AnnaB!

That's a lot of information to digest for a newbie… In your first sentence you say that I will create a new ticket for my next journey. Is to create a new ticket synonymous with activating a pass?

As it stands, I have 1 journey added to my pass, from my home town Den Haag (Netherlands) to Aachen, Germany. My next journey would be from Aachen to Kassel, also in Germany. And I have more journeys planned and added to My Trip in the app, but like I said, only the outbound journey on Day 1 is listed under My Pass when I hit Show Ticket in the app.

I know your advise is to hold off from adding journeys to my pass until just before I board a train, but I'm just not sure if I even know how to add any journeys. Is there an instruction anywhere that I can consult?

Thanks so much for your answer and for the useful link!

Rutger

Here is info about the mobile pass.

I really suggest that you delete all travel days and deactivate your pass now.

You can add the journeys to your Trip in advance, but don't connect the journeys in your Trip to your pass (create the ticket  (QR code))

Thanks again, AnnaB. I just deactivated my pass; this should delete all travel days, no?
My journeys are still listed under My Trip, but this is OK?

When activating the pass on the day of boarding, this means the same as creating a ticket for the journey of that day, correct? And I repeat this process for all subsequent journeys as I go along?

Hi again AnnaB,

May I kindly ask if you saw my last questions above? I realize they may appear superfluous (or plain dumb) but your confirmation would be really reassuring. Thanks!

Sorry for not answering. I am Interrailing through Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic right now. Thanks for tagging @Angelo

Before you board the first train of your travel you need to activate your pass by selecting the start date for the validity of the pass. Then you select the journey for your first train from your Trip if you have added the journey there before. Otherwise you need to first add the journey to your Trip and then add it to your pass and create the ticket (QRcode).

Every time just before boarding the train you repeat connecting the journey to your pass and getting the QR code.

Hi @AnnaB !

This is a belated Thank You for your response above. I have been travelling with my wife through Germany, Poland, and Austria for the past 3 weeks, and had a wonderful time. Anything Interrail related seems so easy now!

I have just one last question… I have used my inbound and outbound ticket, but my pass is still valid until 31/8 and I would like to add a short journey if I can. Is this possible, or is the pass now voided?

Thanks!!

You can travel outside your home country. You need a ticket to the border, from there you can use if you your pass is still valid and for flexi pass, you need still travel days.

Wich pass do you have?

Hi Angelo!
That's great news! I have a Global Pass valid for 30 days, do they call it Continuum or something? Bought it with the 50% off deal.
Best,
Rutger
