I previously used a paper pass and like the idea of it as a keep sake. As I am the organiser of our group I would have to add trips, copy across to all pass holders and generate their tickets for each leg of the trip. all  relying on internet connection which has been problematic on a recent trip. Therefore I was thinking of going old school and buying paper copy of the global pass. Has anyone else recently used the paper version of the pass?

Around 10% of passes are still sold as paper passes. Nothing has changed in how to use it.

Thank you for your reply.
I was also thinking that if I print a pdf version of any seat reservations I’ve made, having a paper pass each would allow us to not always be together to board, and particularly on any night trains where we will be in seperate sleeping compartments.

Yes, I have used paper passes several times in the last few years. No hassle. All you need is a pen.

Sometimes had very excited conductors, though 😃:
In a Czech train: “Oh, wow, this is my first paper pass ever!”
Also in a Czech train: “I know there is mobile pass, but paper is gold!”
In a UK train: “YESSS!!! This is how this should look like!”

You can travel separately with mobile passes of course as well. Just have everyone “carry” their own pass (and their own seat/bed reservation info) on their own phone.
