Hi, I am trying to book a ticket between Paris and Zermatt for 18th December (Have an EURail pass). The EURail website still does not show any trains availability. We are now officially two months before we need to travel. Appreciate the December changeover of timetables but it is pretty inconvenient to say the least to not know when the timetables will infact update or at all. I realise we may have to book Paris - Geneva and rest does not require reservation but even that sector isnt available for booking yet.

Indeed Eurail still doesn’t have the trains while the timetables were uploaded a few weeks ago… really annoying! Use Rail Europe (desktop version) → it should work, I’ve just tried. It costs 29€ for Paris → any station in Switzerland.

Timetables are available in multiple places: for example on the DB Navigator or SBB Mobile apps which I use for my trips (Rail Planner isn’t reliable enough for planning...).

Btw also check Paris - Lausanne: there’s a convenient 7:56 am departure. Less high-speed but shorter distance.

Within Switzerland, reservations are not needed and a waste of money, so you only need to book the TGV Paris-geneva or Paris-Lausanne, depending on the one you take.

You can do that on raileurope.com, which i also cheaper than via Eurail.

Please note that the Eurail pass is your ticket and you only book reservations.

As to the timetable, please don't use the rail planner app or the Eurail website to plan. They're incomplete, often out of date and generally unreliable, especially the app. Instead, use national websites or apps, such as www.sncf-connect.com for France (the planner is not very good though) and www.sbb.ch for Switzerland. The latter one also contains much of Europe.
