Pass validity on Lugano to Caslano route?

I’m hoping to go from Lugano to Caslano, and in the Rick Steves guidebook it says this route is covered by rail passes (I have a Eurail pass), but when I look in the Rail Planner app it says it isn’t covered. The specific train I’m looking at is SBA 124 at 8:24. Is the pass valid or would I need to buy a separate ticket? Thanks!

It’s a private rail company (FLP) that doesn’t accept your Eurail pass (a Swiss Travel Pass would be valid, so at least your guidebook isn’t completely wrong).

If you’d like to go, you’d need a ticket for 7 CHF 2nd class.
