We are currently on an avanti train from uk to manchester. The QR barcode is not recognized by the conductor, who graciously let us stay on. I verified these trains are listed on the eurail website under the link “trains valid in uk”. So… what to do? We are already upset with eurail because the train reservation was not recognized for the Eurostar train from London to Paris so we had to divert and go to Manchester to fly to Paris adding extra cost. Worried when we get into europe the pass wont work on further trains.

Then the conductor is miss informed If he can´t scan the QR Code he should do a visual proof of the Pass on the phone if the train is listed.
Not all conductor can scan the QR Code and in few countries they even doesnt have any QR Code reader :D
But this is by far not the first such report on exactly Avanti (which once used to be Virgin West Coast) avanti is shamed in british fora for not offering low fares and for often also accusing normal british ticketholders for using tickets on wrong trains (the british system is unbelievable complex and a disgrace for any train-promoters)
